Up for auction is my 1983 VW Rabbit diesel pickup truck with a 5 speed transmission and hitch on back. Fires right up. Truck is Located in Lebanon, Ohio, Warren County, just north of Cincinnati, 45036 area code. Truck is sold as a fixed price auction but offers are welcome through offers section under buy it now. This little truck will definately turn heads and will save a ton of money at the pump on your daily commute or grocery getting. I have had this truck for a couple months and planned to do more work to it but I'm moving and need to sell off my cars.
Exterior: Fairly straight body, strut towers can been seen in photos to be very solid; passenger side has been repaired, body has just been painted. Crank windows, wiper motor works as to headlights and turn signals, brake lights, etc. Tires are good, exhaust is in place, brakes work but feel hard. This truck is by no means a show truck but definately looks good 20 feet away.
Interior: Seats are ok, drivers seat has tears in it, can see in photos, will need head liner attention at some point, nice little radio with good speaker in dash. Heater works, transmission shifts fine, dash doesnt have the usual cracks running across it.
Engine: Engine fires right up, smokes when you really give it fuel accelerating. I need to make it very clear, these cars are designed for fuel efficiency, not racing, so do not expect much power, do expect over 40 mpg!!! I can install a new timing belt if desired for $80.00, current one looks good, but I do not know the history on it. There is an external switch that controls the radiator fan, just flip in on when driving and the fan will work. I noticed a sound from passenger side wheel, believe there might be something stuck between wheel and brake caliper, peice of road debris or something, could be bad cv joint as well. If its the cv joint, I have a spare winning bidder is welcome to take with or I can install for a small fee. Good battery.Truck is sold as is, no return, so please ask me any questions you possibly think of prior to auction ending. This is a great little rabbit with a strong engine and good body. If I were a buyer I would feel comfortable driving the truck a couple hours home, but if your planning on buying the truck from Califonia, please understand the car is older, so I cant guarantee it will make it. Also, I can install a waste oil/ vegetable oil kit on the car for an additional $2200 on top of purchase price. My kits are very simplistic and uses no electrical components, so very little mantainance is required.
