You are bidding on a 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC VR6 5-speed. This car was a valentine's day gift from my fiance which I picked up in 2008. I have always wanted to own one of these great cars, however we need money to pay for our wedding and I am forced to sell my dream car. It was purchased on Ebay in February 2008, and does not have a title. In RI, we didn't need a title to register it, so make sure you check with your state laws to see if you can do the same. DMV's in the US will do a title search for you for a small fee and then issue you a new title, usually all you need to provide is the bill of sale and a valid state or government issued ID.
If you are unfamiliar with the Corrado, it was designed by Karmann for Volkswagen, and there were only 15,000-18,000 (depending on your source) of these cars shipped to the US. It was named one of the top 25 cars you should drive before you die by Car magazine in Europe because of its handling. The way this car handles is extraordinary. The car goes exactly where you want to put it.
This car has been heavily modified over stock by the previous owners and is an ex-show car. The thing you will notice right away about this car is its paint job. The pictures can't quite capture what this car looks like in person, but it has a high metallic flake red base coat with metallic dark purple tribal flames, which has been carried over to the rims, the engine cover, and the calipers. The car looks like liquid metal in the sunlight, and I constantly receive compliments from drivers on it. This car is extremely fast, it is not your normal VR6, and because of that, it will require someone with a bit of experience to drive. The sound is next to none, being an avid Volkswagen fan, I haven't heard a VR6 that sounds quite like this car. It has a deep growl, that you'll never get tired of listening to. The engine is extremely strong and has nearly 86,000 miles (when this was listed) and anyone looking for a Corrado knows it is difficult to find one under 100k. The clutch is still in great condition.
Here is the list of work done to this car:
Engine:
Cams
Nuespeed plug wires
High-flow intake manifold
KN Filter Charger
Nuespeed exhaust
Racing Chip
Suspension:
Lowering Springs
Strut Tower bar
Brakes:
Cross-drilled rotors
Misc:
Short throw shifter
Side-skirts
Rear Bumper
Hood Scoop
Vents on either side of hood scoop
Red metallic flake paint job with dark purple metallic flake tribal flames
The auto raising rear spoiler still works and rises at ~45mph.
Leather interior
Upgraded speakers (no subwoofer included, wiring is in place however)
I never had the time (or the money) to get the car to a dyno shop, but I'm suspecting it easily clears 200hp between the cams and the racing chip alone.
The car is 16 years old, and because of that will need a bit of TLC. Here is what you should expect when you pick this car up:
This car will need a tune-up and brake pads. The wells that run along the roof were filled in years ago and painted over when the car received its paint job. Which gives the car a great look, but due to normal frame flexing the paint has cracked all along each well, so you will need to fill those back in and have them touched up. The sun-roof still tilts, and does not open all the way, the puller on the left side is apparently broken, which is a common issue with these cars. Second gear is tricky, and will only shift without grinding between 2-3000 RPMs. I suspect the stopper or blocker rings will need to be replaced. This however does not inhibit the car from normal driving, and you can still take off good, you will just need to shift into second gear slower than normal, to give the transmission time to slow down before synchronizing. If you plan on making this a track car, you will need to replace it.
This car is being sold as-is and the buyer is responsible for shipping. Thank you and happy bidding.
