1967 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback
Very original, California VW Fastback! I purchased this car from a local who assured me the engine had been recently rebuilt. I was a bit skeptical because it looked a little rough. After getting it home, fixing the brakes and cleaning the fuel system, I found it to be in excellent running, and driving condition.
The Good
Very original California Fastback, engine runs excellent, trans shifts perfect, brakes, and handles great. No apparent body rot, very little rust. New fuel pump, new rear brake cylinders and speedo cable. Registration just renewed, clear title! There is a tag on the engine case that indicates a rebuild (See pictures).
The Bad
Radio inoperative. Right turn signal works, but not left. Needs a new turn switch.
The Ugly
Needs a little body work and paint to look nice. Needs some upholstery work and carpet as well. It didn't have door panels when I bought it and I couldn't find any. So, I made my own. Hey it's ugly!
I have included pictures of the body that show the worst of it. Some is cracked bondo (not very thick) on the rear deck, some are cracked paint areas on the front deck. It was originally a nice burgundy color, and a little still shows through. It is mostly primered now, to protect the exposed metal surfaces. This car could be a daily driver, or a restoration project. Drives nice, not a show car. This auction also includes the orginal rear bumper which was replaced because the chrome was bad. The replacement has nice chrome, but is dented. See pictures.
