As I sit down to write this description, I can honestly say this is the only car Ive ever had I will truly miss, and feel sad inside to be selling. My daughter agrees. That being said, there comes a time when you have sunk ungodly amounts of money and time into a custom vehicle, and you just got to let it go. I Love this car though.
This car started its life as a G60 with a stock supercharged 4cylinder, very well taken care of, always garaged, and VERY low miles. After driving it like that for a few years, I first rebuilt that engine, and added a twin screw super charger, and enjoyed it for the time being. As time passed, I wanted more, and decided to do a 1.8t 20v swap. I took a 2001 internal waterpump engine, discarded the small port head, and bought a 2002 AEB big port head. I COMPLETELY rebuilt the engine, from bottom to top, EVERYTHING new, everything clean enough to eat off of inside and out. The block is powder coated battle ship grey, the oil pan is polished.... this thing is clean. Spent thousand at the machine shop, not to mention parts. I cant even think of everything ive put into and on this engine, from billet underdrive pulleys to billet oil catch can.... this engine is crazy. While I was doing the swap I went ahead and swaped in the newer 1.8t AC compressor, condensor, alternator and power steering pump, etc. I am running a BIG TURBO, seriously beefy/expensive turbo manifold, BOV, down pipe, wastegate, everything high quality, nothing spared, turbo is cooled by a brand new front mount inner cooler. The inner cooler pipes are all tig welded, so there is only two pieces, one on each side of the the IC. Everything is done RIGHT, from T Bolt clamps to high quality couplers. EVERYTHING inside and outside this engine was painstakingly torqued to specs. The valve cover is polished Euro cover. The engine is cooled by a stock relocated forward corrado radiator cooled by dual hayden electric fans (brand new). Spark/ignition is powered by dual coils and an MSD Ignition Box (big $$$$). Engine Fuel management and Engine control is run by HALTECH standalone unit. Both units, relays, fuse panel, and plug for laptop are mounted stealth like under passenger side dash/knee parcel area. If you are not familiar with this system, you plug your laptop into it and on the screen it tells you everything your engine is doing, all data on all systems, and allows easy tuning, and changing of nearly everything. After building this engine for the last year, I finally started it up about a month ago, set the timing, entered a base map, and drove it around town to seat the rings. The engine has approximately 50 miles on it if that. The nearest Dyno tuners to me who can competently tune the HALTECH are several hours away, so it has NOT yet been tuned. This will need to be done. The engine has a huge billet fuel rail/pressure regulator, big injectors, and an absolutely beautifull intake.. I can honestly say I have never seen a sweeter intake than this one, it is one of a kind custom. The car starts up and runs strong, but the air to fuel ratio will need to be mapped, and basically the engine tuned on a Dyno session. This engine should make approximately 350 to 400 hp. The Transmission is a strong 5spd, I went through last year, also clean enough to eat off of. It was a g60 tranny but has been fitted with newer VR shifting parts. During the swap I installed a brand new stage 3 clutch kit, including a lightened flywheel....which obviously has also barely been driven on. THE TURBO SPECS ARE AS FOLLOWS: T60-1 T3 57 trim turbo, .63 A/R hotside. 2.5" downpipe. ATP manifold. .Tial 35mm wastegate. SSQV blowoff valve. The injectors are RC 550cc injectors. I have over $7,000 into the engine, engine management, machine work and parts.
The wheels are 17inch rims, with brand new tires on them. I bought these tires, and only drove about 2 months on them before parking the car to do this engine swap. Suspension is eibach coils and rides very nice. The brakes are slotted/cross-drilled rotors. EBC Greenstuff pads all the way round. Struts are KYB, almost new.
The battery is an optima that has been relocated to the rear trunk in a custom strut bar box. All heavy duty wiring was encorporated with proper fuses and relays.
The car used to have a body kit on it, but I didnt like it, so sold it to a friend, the pics with body kit are to show the Bad Boy Boser hood, as I have the hood off today for pictures and a last drive. The hood is very nice, as clean on the underside as the upper side. The vent was encorporated on the drivers side, as originally I was running a twin screw supercharger.
The exterior of the car is clean, nothing more than a very minor finger ding here or there, if that., I cant think of any, but will say there must be one or two. The car has been De-badged front and rear. Sports a rear authentic ZENDER wing.
I used to have euro round lights, sometimes liked the look, sometimes didnt. Currently running stock lights. The core support is a full custom aluminum piece for lightened weight and looks.
The car has a glass sunroof, that does not leak, but at about 75mph you can hear a very light faint wind noise if the shade is open. The power sunroof works perfect, with no problems, open and close. I have two remotes to control the keyless entry/alarm system, lock/unlock doors with it, set alarm, etc. Power windows, locks, sunroof, etc all work perfect, no isuues. I unhooked the power seatbelts at one time, as I didnt like getting in and out with them doing there thing, but they did work before being unplugged, and everything is still installed for them, just unplugged, so I dont know if they will still work or not.
The stereo is a clarion CD player, very nice unit, with polk audio speakers front and rear, powered by an amp in the trunk. Gauges are all indiglo... sometimes I think thats a rice burner thing, but I just always liked the look of it at night, especially since the center column mounted voltage and turbo gauges match. The only thing that doesnt go with the car in the pictures is the stick shift knob, as it was hand made by a close friend on a lathe for me, and has meaning. The factory interior is in superb condition, even though I havent vacuumed it since before the engine swap :) There is only one small area on the drivers seat where you first get in that is cracked a little, and may eventually turn into a rip if not carefull. The steering wheel is an authentic MOMO.
The only two things that will need done, are the windshield replaced, as it was cracked during the engine swap ( a friend decided to set a ratchet down on the wiper arm!!) and the engine/Haltech stand alone will need to be properly tuned with someone who is a professional tuner and familiar with both the 1.8t 20v engine and the Haltech stand alone.
With this car will come TONS of spare parts, some very custom things, things I paid alot of money for but never installed, and everything I ever bought for this car, as I know I can never build a Corrado like this, I wont ever try again.
I truly love this car, and hate to let it go. At times Ive thought Id always own it. I bought it from one of my oldest friends, who literally garaged it and also loved it. I loved it from the first moment I saw him drive up in it, and had no idea then that someday it would be mine, and that Id spend so many years, and SOO MANY dollars on it. But it brought me and my daughters many fond memories. It is a one of a kind car, as truly all Corrados are. I hope whoever gets this will appreciate it and take care of it as I and my buddy did, garage it, and love it.
