Vehicle Description
This item is being relisted since a scammer used buy it now, they don't have any feedback, became a member the day the auction originally started, haven't communicated, or made the deposit, and have been suspended by ebay.
I'm selling a 1986 volkswagen scirocco karmann. It has the 1.8L engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. I bought it this summer for my nephew but he didn't want to keep it. He replaced the alternator and the battery. The alternator adjustment bracket needs to be aligned before I replace the belt.
It has 18X,XXX miles on it. Seems to run pretty good, without any smoke. It has sat at my house since November and started after about (5) seconds of cranking. The previous owner had it in storage (plate was last valid in '04) and couldn't pay the storage bill so I bought it. The car is in pretty good shape for a midwestern 20 year old car. I noticed that there is rust behind the left front wheel. The right front fender looks like it had some minor collision repair. Overall, the paint is shiny but the hood needs some "elbow grease". The interior is in pretty good shape with a cover on the driver's seat. I looked under the seat cover and it looks ok but shows some wear at the seams. I wouldn't be concerned about removing the cover. The moon roof functions and doesn't appear to leak. The original stereo is nothing to brag about. The front speakers are Pioneer and don't allow the original grills to be installed but they are included. There are new (but rusty) brake rotors ready for installation, but it doesn't feel like it needs them. The AC needs to be recharged. (3) of the tires are weather checked goodyears and the 4th looks like a new bridgestone. The 3 goodyears should be replaced within the next 1500 miles but I wouldn't be afraid to drive it to Chicago, Milwaukee or Minneapolis.
