1970 Volvo 144S, 2 litre four cylinder engine, dual Stromberg carbs 095361 original MILES Originally a four-speed car, was converted to a later Volvo-borg-warner three-speed auto by a previous owner. Transmission shifts fine but leaks a little fluid. Car will come with period correct M41 orverdrive transmission as it was my original plan to return this car to a standard transmission. Engine runs fine, doesn't burn a noticable amount of oil, leaks a little. Starts very easily. I replaced the heater and rad hoses in Summer 2006, along with a new valve cover gasket and new wires. Voltage regulator and alternator were replaced in the fall of last year. Main outstanding work that is required is the vacuum brake booster is non-functional. The brakes work fine (4 wheel disc) but I have to press pretty hard because they are purely manual at the moment. Steering is nice and smooth, non-power, but I've never found it hard to park. Interior is in good condition. The only noticable wear is a large rip on the back of the driver's seat and a small one on the side of the passenger seat. The headliner, doors, back seats and dash are all in very good condition. The dash has no cracks and a radio has never been installed. The car was repainted in April 2006 the original colour, "Safari Yellow" (Volvo code 100). At this time most of the rust on the car was properly repaired, as can been seen in the photos. Unfortunately, the door jambs didn't get painted, except where the repairs were carried out, so painting as well as some minor repair on the front passenger jamb may be desired. There is an easily repairable dent in both the front bumper and grill, but it is not that noticable. I have owned the Volvo since August 2005. I have used it off and on as my daily driver since then. It was insured and on the road until the end of April this year. I have started it and run it down and up my driveway at least once every week since then. I purchased it from a university student who used it to commute to school. The car still has the badge from the Clarke Simpkin dealership in Vancouver.
