Ok guys, here is one that i know alot of people will at least take the time to look at. I didn't even know this car existed. I have been an absolute diesel junky my whole life, having a father who drove nothing but a diesel, i grew up loving the smell of diesel (i know that is horrible). Obviously, i have predominately focused on volkswagens and boy have i had a lot of them. My wife on the other hand never really cared for vw diesel's as they are always under powered with little to no room. So my wife having always had a love affair for volvos wanted to find a volvo diesel as they have so much room you can put three car seats in a row in the back. Hence our shopping led us to this, where BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED FROM FACTORY WITH A 6 CYLINDER VOLKSWAGEN TURBO DIESEL ENGINE!!!! I know, can you believe it, when i found this thing i was drooling like crazy. My wife had the same enthusiasm, so for once, i thought we were going to have a keeper that we would have till the kids were grown and gone. Unfortunately, that is not the case. MY WIFE IS ONLY 4'11" AND SHE CANNOT REACH THE PEDAL. As with most diesels, the throttle pedal takes some force to push in, and her foot can only touch the bottom of it causing strain on her back. We knew she was going to have problems when she bought it, but i figured by putting a pillow behind her back she would be ok. She is so tired of her back hurting that she says it has to go. This car is in such unbelievable mechanical shape, and i would get in and drive it to California. This thing does have 170,000 original, actual miles, and for some that may be alot, but for others that have lived and breathed diesels like myself know that these things go for millions of miles before needing rebuilt. In relation to maintenance, it has alwasy had its routine maintencance and even just had the timing belts replaced about six months ago, and as most of you diesel junky's know, that is the only repair that is absolutely crucial on a volkswagen diesel. My wife has been getting 24 miles per gallon driving mostly city. If you plan on driving it mostly highway, you can expect the manufactures suggested mpg's of 30. This car is all factory, and has never been modified. Therefore, it has NEVER had bio-diesel or waste vegetable oil in it, and the injection pump is timed according to factory specifications not for more power or more miles per gallon. This has a four speed automatic that shifts perfectly. I tell people, that this thing has two speeds, turtle speed and turbo speed. If you want to put around town it will shift gears at 1800 to 2000 rpm and it is turtle slow. If you want to go fast, you press the pedal down three-quarters and engage the turbo, and that thing spools up to 3000 rpm and you are litteraly flying down the road. My favorite part about the car has been cruising at highway speeds, as this thing when in top gear and cruising at 2800 rpms, can turbo over any hill with ease. I know, that this car won't suit every diesel junky out there, but if you have kids, love a wagon, need an automatic, and want a diesel, i have a feeling this car is for you. Everything works on the car, even the air conditioning, but it does't come out with force, its somewhat cold having just been recharged, but you can't feel it very well, and even when you have the a/c off, the condenser still gets ice cold. The heater will absolutely burn you out, you can turn the temperature to half way and still be comfortable when its colder out. The heater fan works fine in all stages. All of the lights, wipers (even rear) work, the horn, brakes are great, tires are at least half tread, it needs nothing but a new owner. There is no radio as the previous owners ripped it out. The oil and filters were just changed, and this time i upgraded to a maintenance free KN air filter so you just have to re-oil every 10-15000 miles. You can really hear the turbo whistle with that air filter. The exhaust was replaced not too long ago and has 2 inch pipe all the way back with a factory muffler. The seats are worn with cracks and tears, good ole volvo leather. The dash has a couple of cracks too. The sunroof has not caused us any leaks yet, but i am sure in a down pour it would leak some. The sunroof goes all the way back, and up at an angle. The interior is not a 10 by any means but will hold three car seats and has a back seat as well. The cruise control is not working at this time and i don't know why. The rack is not on the car, it was faded and bent in some places and i have never cared for those impractical volvo racks anyway, you need to upgrade to something like a yakima that will actually hold a canoe without bending. Therefore, in place of the rack plugs i have put clear sticky tabs over the holes, it looks really good and keeps the rain out. The interior does have two to three missing plastic pieces that got old and brittle, one of them is the covrering for the drivers seat belt and the others are the ones you get to the rear bulbs by the hatch. The plastic tabs holding them in place broke, you could find these at any junk yard. Feel free to call with any questions, or come by and take it for a spin. 540-875-9104

Hello again, not too much longer before that beloved day when the winner will drive this beauty home! I wanted to inform those few and far between diesel junkies, that winter is coming and as most diesel junkies know, winter is the worst time of the year for a diesel. Why? Well, diesels don't have spark plugs, they have those wonderful heating elements called glow plugs that pre-heat the combustion chamber. Without glow plugs, the diesel engine will not start, and that is a fact. As you know, glow plugs are either good or bad, not somewhere inbetween, but you never know when an old one will go out, so i went out and bought a whole box of Bosch glow plugs and just replaced them. The only one i did not replace last night was cylinder # 6, which is near the fire wall, as i am convinced that you need a special tool. There is a web sit out there that says to remove the rear belt cover to get to it but it still looks very tight. My wife with her small hands actually installed number 5's glow plug with ease. Anyway, this is yet another comfort to the purchaser, which means in laymans terms, that you will have no problems starting this car, this winter!!!!
