Vehicle Description This is an older restoration of a 1948 CJ2A. Most of the jeep is CJ2A the rest is from CJ3 models and after market parts. Using newer model parts was a common way to upgrade the 2A back in the old days. The jeep has a F head 4 cylinder, 3 speed transmission with a lower 1st gear, a Locker in the front axle, Rancho suspension with a 1 1/2 in lift. The brakes were all done recently. It starts, runs, and drives great. If the clutch is released quickly after shifting into 3rd the transmission will slip for a second, this has no effect on the way the jeep drives. There are no other mechanical problems. The horn and all lights work. The gas gage reads full for the first half tank and than starts fluttering when it gets below 1/2 a tank. The speedometer/odometer read erratic, that is why I can't give true mileage. The other gages work fine. The body is mostly original metal, it has been patched up and bondoed. There are bondo creaks, mostly from off road use. The hood has some dents and bondo creaks. It has a set of 31in mud tires and a set of 31in all terrain tires on white spoke wheels that are good for street use. It comes with an engine mounted HI-LO hydraulic pump that drives a Ramsey front mounted hydraulic winch. Also included is a Myers 6ft snowplow and undercarriage, the undercarriage will have to be modified to fit around the Rancho suspension. Connecticut does not give titles for vehicle this old, the registration will transfer ownership. Please contact me if you have any questions. I will show the jeep to anyone who is interested. 203-645-4814
